Getting Started Guide

Sets up your server in 7 simple steps.

Invite NoxBot to Your Server

  • Click "Add to Discord" button
  • Select your server from dropdown
  • Grant required permissions (Send Messages, Manage Messages, Ban Members)
  • Complete authorization
Required Permissions: Administrator (or individual permissions listed above)

Configure Channels

Set up where NoxBot operates using the following commands:

/botchannel

Select which channel NoxBot listens for chat commands.

/logchannel

Choose where moderation logs and reports are sent.

Set Staff Roles

Configure your moderation team:

/staffroles

Interactive UI to assign Admin, Moderator, and Testing Moderator roles.

Set Welcome & Leave Messages

/welcome

Get the website link to configure: Welcome messages, Leave notifications, Member DMs, Image/GIF support

Enable Features

/events enabled:true

Turn on automatic Discord event announcements.

/automoderation

Enable AI-powered moderation in specific channels.

/modconfig

Set violation thresholds and automatic actions (warn, timeout, kick, ban).

Review Permissions

/viewconfig

View all bot settings. Verify: Channels configured, Staff roles assigned, Rate limits, Premium status.

Chat & AI Commands

Interact with NoxBot's Google Gemini AI assistant.

/chat <message> [image]

Chat with NoxBot's Google Gemini AI assistant

Example: /chat What's the weather in Tokyo?

Parameters:

message (required): Your question or statement

image (optional): Upload an image for analysis

Features: Multi-turn conversations, Image recognition, Context awareness

Daily Limits: Free: 50/server, Premium: 150/server (shared quota)

!nox <message>

Prefix-based chat command (alternative to /chat)

Example: !nox What time is it in London?

Moderation Commands

Enable AI moderation and manage user access.

/automoderation

Enable/disable AI moderation per channel

Example: /automoderation

What It Does: Filters bad words, Detects spam, Tracks violations, Auto-warns users

/modconfig

Configure moderation actions and thresholds

Example: /modconfig

Settings: Violation Threshold (default: 5)

Actions: Warn, Timeout, Kick, Ban

Escalation: Automatic progression

Example: 3 violations → Warning, 5 → Timeout, 7 → Kick, 10 → Ban

/reportconfig

Configure report cooldowns and auto-actions

Example: /reportconfig

Settings: Report cooldown (default: 24h)

No-staff action: Follow AI / Warn Only / Log Only / None

/ban <user> [reason]

Permanently ban a user

Example: /ban @spammer Repeated spam after warnings

Parameters: user (required), reason (optional)

/kick <user> [reason]

Remove user (they can rejoin)

Example: /kick @troublemaker Disruptive behavior
/timeout <user> <duration> [reason]

Temporarily restrict user

Example: /timeout @spammer 30m Flooding chat

Duration Formats: 10m = 10 minutes, 1h = 1 hour, 2d = 2 days

Configuration Commands

Set up bot channels, logging, and staff roles.

/botchannel

Set bot listening channel

Example: Run in the channel where you want NoxBot to respond
/logchannel

Set moderation log channel

Example: Run in the channel where you want logs sent
/staffroles

Manage staff roles with interactive UI

Example: /staffroles

Roles:

• Admin: Full permissions

• Moderator: Ban, kick, timeout, reports

• Testing Moderator: Reports only

/viewconfig

View all settings (5 pages)

Example: /viewconfig

Pages: General Settings, Rate Limits, Moderation Config, Report Settings, Event Announcements

/events <enabled>

Toggle event announcements

Example: /events enabled:true

Options: true = Enable, false = Disable

/setupguide

Send setup guide to current channel

Example: /setupguide

Useful For: First-time setup, New admins, Quick reference

  • User cooldown: 10 seconds between chat commands
  • Server limit: 50 requests/minute

Permissions

Most commands require "Manage Server" or a configured staff role. Chat commands are available to all members. Check /viewconfig for permission details.
